A message from world renowned director #ChenKaige, whose classic (also a debut feature) #YellowEarth (Huang tudi) was presented at the 9th HKIFF back in 1985. 「1985年的香港國際電影節為我的電影處女作《黃土地》打開了一扇門，通過這扇門，中國新電影第一次看到了世界。那隆隆的開門聲至今留在我的記憶中。」 "HKIFF opened a door when they presented my directorial debut, Yellow Earth, in 1985. Through this door, China’s new cinema first set eyes on the world. The sound of those opening doors ring in my memories, and continues to resonate today."
