Spring of 2014 has been a bit sparse in terms of new movies.
Local film understandably doesn’t want to compete with Hollywood’s slate of summer blockbusters.
But luckily there are still movies to watch.
I went to the Newport Cinema in Mong Kok to watch The Second Coming/重生, a new horror film from Herman Yau.
Philip Yung directed May We Chat, his second film. His first was 2009’s Glamorous Youth, and like that film, May We Chat/微交少女 is a Category III movie about teenagers.
That’s an odd contradiction; Category III movies aren’t viewable by anyone under 18.
Not legally anyway. But that’s why God invented the Internet, right?

Z Storm/Z風暴 is directed by David Lam, who hasn’t directed a film in a dog’s age.
And some of the films he directed were dogs.
He co-wrote the scrīpt with Ho Wa Hong, whose credits aren’t really much better.
