Happy 2013!

Wow!  The last time I blogged, it was about to become 2010.  Now, it's 2013!  Time goes by too fast, don't you think?  Well, since I finished Lychee Thieves and Brass Knuckle Ballad, I've been trying to concentrate on my own writing projects.  In the process, I became interested in K-pop, as it is becoming popular in the States!  So anyway, I just finished filming a documentary about American teenagers who are trying to become K-pop stars.  I'm in the process of editing, and soon, I'll take the film to Los Angeles to complete ...Read more

The end of another year...

Dinner with Bruce Vilanch

Who Killed the Electric Car?

A few weeks ago, I was in my attorney friend's office, and he had a box full of the above-mentioned DVD.  As a person who loves cars, I had wanted to see this documentary, but never got around to it.  He kindly gave me one, and I finally watched it.  It really made me sad and mad that a company like GM created a car such as the EV1 to satisfy a California clean air mandate, but after the mandate was lifted, GM repossessed all of the cars (they were leased), and had them crushed. Young Hawaii filmmaker wins at Sundance!

Because Hawaii is not known as a film industry mecca, I am always inspired when a filmmaker from here receives national or international recognition for his or her work.  In this case, it is a young filmmaker from Maui named Destin Cretton, who triumphed over 96 other filmmakers to win the Best Short Film award at the Sundance Film Festival.  During his time at Sundance, he kept an online blog, which can be found here:
