Screen Australia and Epiphany are proud to present the ultimate
writing class on story design taught by renowned screenwriting lecturer Robert McKee.
McKee will present his universally acclaimed Story Seminar in Sydney followed by three
new Genre Seminars in Melbourne on Thriller, Comedy and Love Story.
The most widely known and respected screenwriting lecturer in the world today, Robert
McKee is the author of Story: Substance, Structure, Style and the Principles of
Screenwriting, considered a ‘screenwriter’s bible’ His former students’ accomplishments
include 32 Academy Awards®, 160+ Emmy® Awards, 21 Writers Guild of America Awards,
17 Directors Guild of America Awards, the British Book of the Year Award and the Pulitzer
Prize for Feature Writing.
“Screen Australia supports and promotes the development of highly creative and diverse
kinds of storytelling for a range of audiences,” said Screen Australia’s Head of Development,
Martha Coleman. “These seminars present a rare opportunity for Australian film
practitioners to develop their craft and learn from the insights of one of the world’s most
legendary masters of screenwriting.”
Story Seminar is the culmination of Robert McKee’s lifetime study of story design and will be
presented as a four-day intensive seminar in Sydney. McKee’s approach in Story Seminar is
on creativity, not on teaching formula. The seminar teaches that the essence of good story is
universal and timeless. In all creative work everything works in the shadow of classic story
design whether on the big screen, on television, in novels or on stage.
Robert McKee’s genre classes on Thriller, Comedy and Love Story come to Australia for the
first time in 10 years. To be held in Melbourne they are perfect for new participants or those
who have already attended Story Seminar.
