Also celebrating the amazing talent that is Viola Davis, her touching speech and Mahershala Ali, our first Muslim academy best actor win (I'm partial to his sag awards speech though) but most powerful so far IMO: Iranian-American heroes Anousheh Ansari and Firouz Naderi accepted for Oscar award winner Asghar Farhadi who didn't attend in protest of Trump's unconstitutional travel ban. Another important moment: Syrian White Helmets have saved 82,000 lives. but the cinematographer who told their story in the Oscar-winning doc could not enter the US due to the #muslimban . He sent a poignant statement. Hidden Figures told the inspiring true heroes that have gone unrecognized for too long by the General Public and it was great to see Katherine Johnson celebrated on Stage. I wish the amazingly moving film Lion had gotten an award, part of the power of this true story comes from it's message of compassion which reverberates powerfully in these hard times when our government turns its back on refugees. Gael García Bernal also rebuked Trump "As a Mexican, as a Latin-American, as a migrant worker, as a human being, I am against any form of wall." Also enjoyed this dig at Trump's ignorance/dishonesty after Swede Linus Sandgren won Oscar for Best cinematography: "Linus, we're so sorry about what happened in Sweden last week" - Jimmy Kimmel. Congrats Moonlight winning best film!! a powerful, deserving & important movie. I also appreciated @LaLaLand 's @jehorowitz 's graceful acceptance of Moonlight's win. Class act. #Oscars
