As I have been spending a lot of time working on the adidas originals profile on alivenotdead.com, I was really looking forward to this party.
They had a big party w/ the roof and top two or three floors of 'The Factory' in far away Wong Chuk Hang (actually not that far, just a bit out of the way). I knew it was going to be big and expensive, and that there would be a LOT of people trying to fight to get in, but I wasn't quite ready for what I faced when I got there...
Outside they had my favorite adidas Ice Cream Truck parked out front.
Unfortunately this ice cream was not free. :-P
(its the regular local ice cream truck business, just covered w/ adidas branding).
They also had some giant inflatable logos, etc out there.
And the entrance was a garage door.
Since I got my name checked at the shuttle bus stop (even though the shuttle bus left w/o us), I skipped the first first line, but got stuck in the second line inside the entrance. I'm not sure why, but rather than let people take the stairs to get in, they had people line up for the elevators... which meant trying to get 1000 people into the party, 10 at a time. :-P
Hey, that girl looks familiar! :-P
Needless to say I got a really good view of the press photo area in the front lobby:
this was where the celebs did their photo ops (they were just wrapping up when I came in).
After quite a while I /finally/ made it into the party. Unfortunately I missed 24Herbs! crap! thats the main thing I wanted to see.
The decorations were pretty cool though, someone spent a lot of time rereating the 'house party' motif of adidas' worldwide campaign.
all the adidas partnerships were represented too.
look who I bumped into! none other than Jun Kung!
Not exaclty sure why, but they had this 'decorated' toilet along with a bathtub full of beer... I guess it can't be a house party w/o a trashed bathroom. :-P
Up on the roof it was pretty crowded too.
they had a 2nd (3rd?) DJ booth with some Japanese DJs spinning.
Finally I found most of our amigos:
Justin getting his mack on. (sorry Justin, just teasing!)
the blue room! (its called soft marketing!)
this guy kept trying to push me into the ball pit... but unfortunately for him I am a master of judo... he was unsuccessful.
last but not least - Steve Aoki was DJing in the downstairs part. It was hard to find him actually:
he was partying pretty hard though!
he had a wall of fans surrounding the booth actually... mostly model types. it looked almost exactly like one of adidas' house party promo shots. :-P
it was hard to get a good picture of him, because he was flailing his hair around while head banging... (note 42 below product placement!) :-P
good party, (except for the nightmare at the front door!)
but we had to roll down to m1nt! so we left around 11:30 (damn, i was only inside for like 30 minutes! f*&^king front door! :-P
on the way out i realized why they wanted everyone to come up in the elevator:
actually we didn't go STRAIGHT to m1nt:
midnight stop! for double filet o fishes and all-day egg mcmuffins!
part two of the night (m1nt ) coming soon!
