An Evening With Bruce...

Like I said yesterday,  Wednesday was action packed - races, poker, and then another event.  In this case it was with some familiar faces:

No thats not really Bruce Lee,  its HK Actor Danny Chan (陳國坤) - who you may recognize from the movie Shaolin Soccer as Brother #4 -

ブルース．リーじゃないよ、チャン・クォックァンです。

'Lightning Hands' aka Brother #4. Of course he was also in Kungfu Hustle too.  少林サッカー映画の「魔の手」人物。わかる？

Here he is.  He's actually a really nice guy too.  When the club's door people were being a$$es he personally came down to make sure we could get in.　英語の名前Dannyです。とても親切人ですよ！

You may or may not know, but Danny has leveraged his 'Bruce Lee-likeness'  beyond Shaolin Soccer and into a pretty cool looking biographical mini-series about Bruce Lee:

The Legend of Bruce Lee

I asked Danny about it,  he told me it was produced by CCTV and filmed in the US, Europe, Thailand and HK (and probably China too).  As a Bruce fan, as soon as he mentioned it was filmed in Rome I was like "oh damn, they even got 'Way of the Dragon!'".  Familiar faces in it include Ray Park (who plays Chuck), Mark Dacascos and Michael Jai White.    It'll be showing on Mainland TV starting in May and up to the start of the Olympics....  based on the fact that the trailers they were showing, it looks pretty decent so I think for sure the show will be quite popular.

This event was actually not to promote his TV series, it was to promote a clothing and accessories line he was doing with a Taiwanese company.  In addition to the giant posters on the wall in the above picture,  they had some displays out:

このイベントは新品為にでした。ダニーの服とアクセサリーボランド：

  Those axe things were of course an allusion to his character in Kungfu Hustle, as one of the Axe Gang.

The other cool thing was the turnout.  it was a pretty small event but a lot of familiar faces... especially unique because they're from circles other than the ones we normally interact with:

I think you'll recognize Tin Kai Man as the 3rd brother aka 'Iron Shirt'.  He was really nice too.

We also met Fung Min Hang, who you may also remember as 'the guy with the wrench in his shorts' but I didn't get a picture!  doh. 

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the Bruce TV show and meeting up with Danny again in the future.　楽しかった！
