Friday we met up in my neck of the woods (NT baby!) to check out the HK Ballet's production of 'Swan Lake' at the Shatin Community Theater. I've seen the China National Ballet do one act from Swan Lake during a US tour I went to back in the day, but this is the first time I've seen the whole thing. I enjoyed the show, especially the first and third acts. (these are the ones w/ 'norms' in it.... the other two acts are the 'swans'...
The night we went Faye was dancing the female lead, I thought she did a great job. Selina and Crystal were great in the first act as well, they both got a lot of solo time. I am really sad that this will be my last chance to see Crystal dance for a while (til I book a ticket to London!?) :-P
金曜日晩僕達シャティンでバレーを見た。スワンラークでした( 白鳥の湖)。面白いかった:
Here's a picture of the impressive 24 swans + the swan queen + prince + ...batman...
There was one thing I don't quite get about this ballet... The antagonists of the story is a socerer named 'Von Rothbart'. In Act 3 he's dressed up like a fine gentleman, but in Acts 2 and 3 he is dressed up like a green version of Batman, lording over his lake full of cursed swans flapping his cape around like Nosferatu... Where'd that come from? Why? I don't get it!
So this makes me want to see 'Swan Lake II: The Prequel' where they explain what the hell's going on with this guy.... oh wait, they did make one!
After the show we went to Ruby Tuesdays (aka the membership card pyramid scheme restaurant) in New Town Center:
