Mark hooked us up with a bunch of his old korean DVDs the other day. I have a huge stack now that will take me a year or two to go through. Since I didn't want to go out Saturday night, I watched one... a random Korean police story called ' Detective Mr. Gong' (공필두), also referred to as 'A Big Match' on some sites.
as often the case with korean movies, they take a lot of promotional shots that have nothing to do with the movie or the plot... this is an example!
This is a more accurate poster:
Its kind of a crime comedy... about a loser cop named Gong who seems to be having the worst run of luck. It gets to the point where he borrows money from gangsters to pay for an operation for his dad and needs to break a big case or lose his job... the film gets quite confusing at some points in the beginning before it starts making sense -
Basically a gangster's girlfriend runs away and takes his car that happens to have 50 million dollars in gold hidden in the trunk.... and then she accidently hits a male model... The gangsters are trying to find the gold, the cops are trying to find the smugglers, the girl and the model are trying to get away... much hilarity ensues.
Not a great movie, but sort of picks up in the 2nd half. 5/10.
