I rushed home last night to make it in time for the Asian TV premiere of ' Dragon Boys' -- an award winning canadian miniseries about organized crime in Vancouver's Chinese community. I had heard a lot about it and met several of the cast members (like HALF of them are on our site here, sweet!)
It was pretty good. I was a bit weary, since it was only a TV miniseries... and /Canadian TV/ at that. :-P
but once you get used to it, it was pretty good. Of course its a bit 'paint-by-the-numbers' in many respects... or maybe I've just seen too many triad/cop movies? anyway, the performances were pretty decent, the production quality was good and the story was told pretty well. And it also happens to feature HK cinema mainstay, Eric Tsang:
Check it out if you find it on TV or see in the video store. I'll give it a 7/10. the no-commercials version runs 3:10, the commercials version is like 4 hours, so be sure to block off a lot of time for it. :-P
