Farewell dinner

Wednesday night, some of my department members went out to dinner at a fancy restaurant not far from our campus...

hypothetically it was a 'farewell dinner' for three of us,  myself and another asst. professor are leaving (because our department is on the chopping block and is being forced to cut back on faculty contracts), and one of the lecturers is going too.

水曜日晩僕は大学の同僚と一緒晩御飯食べた。僕のサヨナラパーテイでした。僕はと他の教授両方とももすぐ出る。

Sorry the picture's not very clear, it was raining cats and dogs so I didn't dare take my camera out except under this awning...

but the name is a scam,  this thing doesn't even float! its fake!  Its a knock-off of the famous Jumbo floating restaurant down in Aberdeen.

But wait! some of you may be aware that Etchy actually doesn't like to eat seafood! why is he eating at a place that has the word 'Seafood' in the name?  Well i didn't pick the place, and I at least made sure they picked some food that wasn't seafood.

I didn't think to take any pictures of the food til the very end:

This was some tasty egg flavored soup desert, as well as some deep fried honeydew balls (?!?)  and some spongy egg bread...    卵スープでした、美味しかった。

Anyway, we took a group picture at the end:

What a bunch of super geeks! (plus our head dept admin)  This is only about 1/2 of our faculty actually,  a lot of the rest of them are out of town for conferences or vacation (the fall semester doesn't start for about 2.5 weeks).

btw, things are officially still hectic... I have been trying to shuttle stuff to my new apartment while prepping for my trip to Japan next week and trying to get my new work visa lined up...  there literally aren't enough hours in the day. 

tomorrow and sunday are scuba open water testing days... doh, I'm screwed. :-P
