One lazy weekend afternoon I had to do a meeting in CWB and since it wasn't that hot I decided to walk home. I passed by the HK Central Library, across from Victoria Park.
I pass by this building quite often but I'd never gone inside before...
Its pretty fancy! Let's take a look inside...
your tax paying dollars at work? a pretty decent building. I think the atrium is 8 stories.
the upper floor of the atrium section has nice windows looking to both the north and south.
The park (which is not so much a park as a concrete lot painted green) and Victoria harbor behind it. Literally a million dollar view!
they had a lot of computer workstations available to the public... these ones were actually couches with wireless keyboards... this guy was watching youtube videos w/ headphones on... why do I bother to own a computer, i could just hang out here all day.
I actually decided to look for some books while I was here. I was hoping to find some on hiking or biking trails, but I happened upon some random HK-specific stuff while I was looking.
I'm no book reviewer...but after flipping through this book for 5 minutes I was ready to set it on fire... not funny at all. I disliked it so much I want to explicitly unrecommendit...
a much better book that I would recommend:
actually probably #1 in 1995... this book is pre-Handover... and includes a couple very dated jokes about the colonial government, landmarks that no longer exist (Daimaru), etc... How many people even know who Chris Patten is anymore?
Some are not very HK specific, but some are, and decently funny:
Anyway, check out your public library so you too can read books without paying for them!
