There was a strong response to my blog about 'Chicken Egg Boy' (雞蛋仔) waffles a few months back, so the next time I went by and couldn't resist the delicious aroma... I was sure to document the process fully!
the place is actually just a window on a building right off King's Road in North Point, about 2 blocks from my house.
this day, like many evenings, there was a line! but it moves pretty quick.
Its pretty simple. HK$13 for 1, or HK$24 for 2. (that's like $1.60 for 1 or $3 for 2).
They basically have two irons... each side has an electric cable heating it up and they are able to flip over them over too (is that the secret? something you can't do with your home waffle iron!) :-P
Here the lady is cutting away the overspill before opening it up (is it called flashing if its waffles? waffle flashing?)
All around the window they have pictures of article clippings or pictures of famous people who have come in the past. Who's that guy on the bottom right? He looks familiar?
why its Hong Kong cinema legend Michael Wong! I'll have to loiter around here in hopes of seeing him one day! ;-)
She takes the piping hot Jidanzai out, passes it to her colleague who puts it in a bag and then starts on the next one

and here I am w/ my snack... that's the shop in the background. Its the corner of Kam Hong Street and King's Road, about half a block from MTR Exit B3.
