Josie Fliers: AKA 'What I was doing at Magnum...'

I posted one of these pics already in a forum thread, but I wanted to share them here since Norm Yip left a guestbook comment asking a question related to it...

In late July with a lot of help from AnD volunteers and a few artists, we managed to hand out several thousand AnD fliers at the Ani-Com.  We decided to try it again, this time with an artist specific flier. 

Since the musicians make concert and show appearances a lot more often than the actors or most other artists, they seem to be the best choice for our first try.  In this case we did it for Josie since she has 3 shows in the next few weeks and an upcoming album in the next few months. 

So Boon whipped up a cool flier design and we ordered a few thousand copies.  Last week we went over to Wong Chuk Hang (South side of HK island) to visit the printers.  We were going to check the proof...

Its interesting to see the whole process,  in this case they were printing one side and after drying they flip them over and print the backs, then chop them up.　僕はエンジニーアですから、このプリント機を見るを面白いです。

They probably could have finished them all in a few hours if they wanted to,  as it stands it took only 2 days for us to get them finished and delivered!  These guys work HARD,  the rooms are super noisy and full of the smell of ink and paper.   作る方も面白い、このスタフとても頑張ります。。。し難い仕事よ！

They seem to have a few hundred jobs going on at any one time too. This company does all kinds of printing, from text books to art books to magazines to pamphlets and posters.  We got the full tour from our sales staff.  As an engineer, it was interesting for me to see the various machines used in the manufacturing process. 

They even let us browse through their 'library' which is a room full of example copies of their recent books.  We saw Norm Yip's ' 2.A.M' book on the shelf.  They let Boon take some design book...  he was too embarrassed to ask if he could keep the Japanese Rope Tying book... :-P
