Perhaps because i've been in the newspaper so often lately, but I was able to get invited to a cool promotional event tonight. It was for the new Nokia E71 mobile phone ( pics and specs here).
They had a special guest, Chinese R&B sensation Khalil Fong (方大同) - wikipedia, there to sing a few songs. Since some of you would rather cut to the chance, here's a video I took of him singing -
Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9c1bR3zf5ck Pretty good! Its my first time really hearing him sing, he's got a good smooth voice. A lot of people in the music business speak highly of him, and now I see its well deserved!
Here's some of the stills I took:
Actually Khalil aside, it was a fun event. It was held at the California Bar in LKF, kind of a strange choice cause its /not/ that big of a place... so of course it was quite crowded!
The show was hosted by the ' I Love U Boyz' boys... who I may remember from such films as ' Sixth Floor Rear Flat Part 2: The Happy Funeral'! Unfortunately most everything was all in cantonese, so I didn't understand most of it. :-P
I understand phones and I understand pretty girls, so I was doing OK here... ;-)
The E71 is actually not bad looking, better than the E61 at least...
which was obcenely wide (photo from the internet)... but the E71 ALMOST looks too much like a blackberry clone for my tastes. There's some good reviews for it though, check out this one.
The I Love U Boyz MC guys went around to some celebrity guests and did some interviews with them about the phones -
One of whom was everyone's favorite photographer, Mr. Wing Shya... Its a shame my cantonese isn't better. I was curious what thy were asking them... keep in mind that they had just gotten the phones in their hands like 10 minutes beforehand (you can see the recently opened box right there on the bench)...
"oh, its great, I love using my Nokia E71.... for the last 10 minutes..."
Wing Shya, makes great pictures no matter what side of the camera he's on...
Speaking of Love Boyz, 12/24ths of Hong Kong Boy band 24Herbs was there too represent...
Look at these two saps with their iPhone 3Gs... losers. :-P
