another Korean DVD review... with the imaginative (not particularly) and fitting (definitely no logic here) title of 'Mr. Wacky' (생, 날선생)
i guess this would be classified as a romantic comedy. Basic premise - a teacher who retired after winning the lottery is disappointed at his playboy grandson, so he decides to give all his money to a charity unless his good for nothing grandson spends two years as a public school teacher. Much hilarity ensues... of course there's an attractive female teacher that he hates at first, but right around the time he decides to be a good teacher and help the students, they magically start falling in love.
Ok, extremely cliched, but that doesn't mean the movie can't be enjoyable... The problem with 'Mr. Wacky' (which is not really wacky at all)... is basic film making... it feels like the copy I was watching had every third scene cut out... or perhaps it was just that the first and last 15 seconds was snipped from each scene... either way things just did not make sense. subplots have no set-up, no resolution, no context... i couldn't tell what the hell was going on half the time. :-P
I give it a 3/10, because of Kim Hyo-jin (김효진) more than anything. :-P
note, the following cover has absolutely nothing to do with the movie with the exception that these two people are in the movie:
nor this one
nor this one
nor this one
nor this one:
typical for Korean movies... but still. :-P
