I'm still super busy but I'm trying to force myself to keep up with my blogging, lest I fall so far behind i can never catch up! :-P
These pics and video are from Sunday Night. Chris Laywas in town from Beijing and I brought him along to see my FAVORITE Taiwanese female singer, Mavis Fan and her band 100% performing at an outdoor local in Taipo (that's up in the New Territories where I go biking all the time btw).
yes, that is a bonfire in the middle of the crowd in front of the stage. :-o
despite the cold everyone was sitting rather orderly on the ground most of the time. Total there were about 500 people there i think?
It was rather intimate though, the stage was low and everyone had a good seat.
Because it was quite chilly, Mavis and her band 100% were all bundled up in their winter gear.
I pushed my 3x lens + digital zoom to the brink to get these close-ups!
I'm sure Chris will have much much nicer pics, he had his pro camera with him of course.
It wouldn't be Mavis without the flute! I described her to Chris as ' The female Taiwan equivalent of Jethro Tull'. :-D
Here's an awesome video I took of them playing '明白' -
great tune! very mellow!
toward the end of her set she got up from behind the keyboard, put the flute down and picked up the pace a bit. ;-)
I snuck around the other side to get some shots from a new angle
the finale song was really up tempo. I liked it a lot and the crowd really got boisterous. Suddenly it didn't feel quite so cold. ;-)
A few familiar faces in the audience too:
Don, Helenand Josie, joined by Chris. Eman and Ellen from at17 were there too, but they were too busy dancing around in the back for me to get a good pic. ;-)
Great job Mavis! Looking forward to another BBQ w/ you and 100% when its a bit warmer!
