NOTE: See updates at the bottom!
uh-oh, I'm going to have to start going to McDonalds (even more often than I already do...)
In the 4 years I've been in HK, this is the first time I've seen them do the McDonalds Monopoly promo game here.... they had a giant floor display in the Central MTR platform -
Kowloon side rEpReSeNtInG yo! and N.T. in the house! (don't you think its ironic that Lo Wu is adjacent to JAIL?)
I'm very disappointed that '北角' doesn't get a spot!
I'll update everyone if I win anything...
UPDATED - 12/10/2010: Its been 6 days since I first wrote this blog... and I've been to McDonalds 6 times since then.... Yes, I am conducting my own, Monopoly driven version of "Super Size Me" (you get 2 pairs of game pieces if you Super Size your meal, whereas a regular Extra Value meal only gets one pair). ...actually one time I just went in to use the internet so I just got a drink... so 5 Super Sized Extra Value meals in 6 days... that's still pretty rough! :-P
But that means I've gotten 20 game pieces so far! And since I'm meticulous like that... here's the facts and figures. I'll update it as I collect more: Chek Lap Kok - 0 / Mui Wo* - 0
Peng Chau* - 0 / Cheng Chau - 2 / Lamma Island - 1
Lo Wu - 1 / Yeun Long* - 0 / Sham Tseng - 1
Kwai Chung - 1 / Sha Tin* - 0 / Sai Kung - 2
Lei Yue Mun - 1 / Wong Tai Sin* - 0 / Kowloon Tong - 0
Sham Shui Po - 5 (yes, I get one EVERY time go!) / Mongkok - 0 / Tsim Sha Tsui* - 0
Causeway Bay - 1 / Happy Valley* - 0 / Central - 1
Repulse Bay - 1 / Victoria Peak* - 0
I'm only guessing on which one is the rare one in each set. Apparently in the US, they almost always make the one that's alphabetically last the rare one (except for Boardwalk), and it seems to be the same here in HK.
I have also gotten 3 instant win pieces in 5 trips (so more than 1 out of every 7 pieces is an instant winner). But so far nothing spectacular - Free Small Fries, Free Filet-O-Fish (yuck) and $100 off any purchase of $500 or more at OTO Bodycare (wow, what a non-prize...)
I'll keep you updated! :-P
