Michael Wong and Ankie at UN World Refugee Fundraiser

Last last Friday Michael Wong organized a charity fundraiser for the UN Council on Human Right's World Refugee Day.  He brought his Michael Wong Big Band and they crammed into the small stage area at JJ's:

unfortunately this place is NOT very picture friendly.  between the low lighting and the shiny surfaces on the back wall and stage front.. the flash gets all f'ed up. :-P

I've seen Michael and his band perform several times already,  and although they're entertaining,  the real performer I wanted to see tonight was one of his special guests,  the beautiful Ankie Beilke:

they performed 'New York, New York'...  which is strange, because its not really a duet song...

Michael says:  "Oh no,  don't try to leave young lady!"

other special guest was Metro Vocal Group.  They did a good acappella cover of 'For the Longest Time" by Billy Joel.
