If you can't tell from the last blog, i'm going to try to blog faster to catch up! this is last saturday, i'm only a week behind now! ;-)
Because it was raining during the week, I suggested that Mio and family wait til the weekend to go to Macau, since the forecast looked better. That inadvertently meant i volunteered to take them there though. :-P
also unexpectedly, i found out only the night before that Jay Chou was doing a concert the same day at the Venetian... i didn't think it'd be a big problem because we were going to go earlier, but turns out the tickets were ferry tickets selling out quickly, we had to get a 'super class' seat in order to avoid having to wait two hours... (thanks to Mio's mom for treating!)
btw, if you're looking for interesting blogs talking about touristy things to do in Macau, I suggest you read some of my earlier blogs. I'll skip over most of the details in this one. :-P
super seat is not /that/ super... its definitely wider and more comfortable... and they give you food... for some reason they didn't give everyone the same food, some guys ordered hot dogs and other stuff, they just automatically gave us a sampler...
the best part is you get to get off the boat first. unlike an airplane where the first class is in the front so they're physically closest to the exit, in the turbo ferry to macau the 'super class' is upstairs, which means they make all the guys downstairs wait and watch while you lazily take your time coming down the stairs... :-P
despite the Jay Chou effect, i still wanted to take them to see the venetian, so we went straight from the ferry and had lunch over there at the food court. they had another one of those 'statue guys'... but this guy was REALLY not good... maybe he was near the end of the shift, or had something in his eye, but he was all over the place... その後べネシュンでご飯を食べた。
I'm a fast walker, I like to move around quick from one place to another, stop take some pictures and move on... drinking as I go and eating quick and moving on... so i find traveling with other people kind of a pain (especially people who walk slow... like Pat), traveling with older people (like my mom) is also difficult... but traveling with a kid is definitely the hardest... at least this guy was 8 and pretty well behaved. takes a LOT of energy for sure...
タイ君です。かっこいなポーズですね!
We stopped at the Beef Jerky street... so many choices! wait, what kind of meat is that one?
Spicy Fillet of Pork - ok Fillet of Pork - ok Slice of Pork - ok Wild Boar of Pork - ?!? Veal of Meat - ?!?
Can I get a Wild Boar of Beef? or does it only come in Pork? :-P
悪英語有る、分かる?
Next stop, St. Paul's:
As it was Saturday afternoon, it was crowded... for some reason they were doing a lion dance at the top of the stairs... Having spent a number of years in the martial arts, I have seen some really good lion dance performances, including amazing acrobatic feats, gravity defying stacks and dangerous jumps... but this show wasn't any of those things. :-P
We walked up to Monte Fort to get a view and enjoy a nice cool breeze (its getting hot already out here):
St. Paul's Cathedral was first built in the 1500s, it was rebuilt in the early 1600s and unfortunately burned down in 1838, leaving just that facade. doh! you can get a better idea of the size from up here...
Grand Lisboa - pretty much finished now i think:
all someone wanted to do was climb on top of the cannons though... (and at least this time - that someone wasn't me).
