Momentum! Edison has made me #1!

i'm not talking about electoral momentum in the way that Obama or McCain seem to be building up a head of steam after a primary win...

i'm talking about the huge steamroller of page views I've gotten over here at the Etchy blog the past 6 days since this edison sex thing flared up and I decided to write that g00gle bait blog about it.. you know, this one:

Edison Chen Sex Photos Scandal - He breaks his silence:The first one particularly has gotten a lot of attention from g00gle... which is a good thing.  Hopefully some of the random passersby have stopped to look at what AnD is and decided to make a log in...   (if you're reading this, help support our community of artists and fans by joining!)

I will admit that I did these blogs on purpose... since I saw a similar reaction of traffic during the whole Yumiko Cheng wardrobe malfunction a few months back.  basically if you write a blog about a scandal like this relatively early, you can get a lot of traffic off of search engines.  I wanted to try to capitalize on this phenomenon w/o going the low road of posting pictures or exploiting the victims by disclosing their identities, etc...   I guess its a fine line, but I think i stayed on the right side...

But regardless,  the rate of growth of my page view numbers has been stunning...   since I blog so regularly, i've always had a good rate of page views,  sometimes as many as a few hundred in one day, but amazingly enough this week its been more than thousand a day! (note on Jan 31st, 5 days ago, i mentioned I had just passed 68k, that was already a few days into the scandal...)

holy crap, since I started writing this 10 minutes ago (i type slow), 60 more people have viewed my blog... crazy!) as of 3am HK time,  i'm at ~73,970 :-P

at this rate patrick is going to lose his #1 spotin a few days, this sex-scandal can't be stopped, even if they did arrest them all!  :-P

update (5pm - 2/6/08): ok, looks like it took less than a few days,  as of a few minutes go this is the new breakdown of most page views for AnD members:

Joking aside, the amount of hits from Google have been quite impressive,  over 3000 in the last 15 hours or so. :-o 

Also I learned AnD got a lot of hits from the Apple Daily writing an article about Rosanne Wong's recent blog....  i'm happy they included a link at least...
