Friday night Pat and Gii and I went to a Nike event in TST. Somehow I've managed to get on the guestlist for these types of snazzy parties, so I want to make the most of it. ;-)
In this case it was a really cryptic invitation, just said something about 'the legend of 23' so we started joking that Michael Jordan was going to be there...
Unfortunately he wasn't able to make it to HK, but they did have a cool exhibition of Air Jordan releated nike products.
There was a lot of people standing outside trying to spot famous people... From what I could tell the only really 'big' HK movie star I recognized was Shawn Yue...
Because he was featured in a nike promo they were showing off in the 'press room':
the press wait for famous people to show up and take pictures, the next day the pictures show up in the newspaper.... all the rest of the party is basically an excuse to get this to happen...
Upstairs they had a pretty cool display of shoes on the wall and in a center display case...
Would I be dating myself too much if I admitted that I remembered when these things came out? I used to have a pair actually... :-P
but it made the room too crowded to walk (to get to the bar!)
speaking of the bar... it was sponsored by Hennessy Cogac... yes, thats right, Cogac!
At first i was thinking 'is that some sort of weird British spelling of Cognac? so I double checked...
you'll probably have to zoom, but yes, cognac with an ' n'. :-P
I wonder if I was the only one who noticed?
Spelling aside, the event was pretty first rate, they had the Air Jordan logo everywhere, including on the serving trays...
and yes, even on the desserts!
Gii insisted on getting her picture taken with this guy, who's a rapper/tv personality from Taiwan apparently... named '黑人' (his real name is 陳建州)
It turns out that a bunch of AnD artists showed up as the evening went on including Phil Ng and his usual suspects, also I saw MC Yan (but didn't get a chance to say hi) and Pat ran into none other than Paul Wong... TungTung was there and invited us to check out 'Club PP' , the new club in TST east that she DJed at two weeks before.
While we were driving over there we saw a group of people on the sidewalk in TST, Gii and Tungtung recognized some famous HK entertainment producers and what not, but Pat and I only recognized one guy - our old pal Wu Jing... I last saw him at the K1 event a few months back but Pat hasn't seen him since our wushu days back in California before Wu Jing retired from wushu and went on to become a big time TV and movie star... it was like long lost brothers, as they hadn't seen eachother in like 9 years. Wu Jing was happy to see me too, he gave me a really strong punch in the chest he was so happy... ouch! :-O
Needless to say his drunken fist is still pretty sharp! It all happened so fast i didn't have a chance to take a picture, since his group was leaving and our car was double parked. :-P
Anyway it was a pretty random encounter! We've got to meet up with him again in the next few weeks to get his AnD profile activated....
PP was pretty impressive, it reminded me of some of those big clubs in China... but it was friday night and pretty empty... looks like they'll need some time to build up a customer base.
MCG and MissyK showed up,
I was quite impressed with MCG's 'take the party with you' backpack:
Being modeled by TungTung... I'd get one but i think its probably illegal to use the external speakers in most places... and I think silver would clash with my complexion. :-D
