6/10
Movie:
| Entry | Sorry for the delay! here's my RH3 review ( click here for the pictures from the HK premiere screening):
In a sentence, you can sum this film up as "its pretty much just like the other two... they did a good job in doing nearly the same thing as the first two..."
Roughly the same situations, same characters, same type of humor, etc. Chris 'I haven't needed to work since RH2' Tucker reprises his role as an Eddie Murphy clone (well, I guess its been 20+ years since Beverly Hills Cop came out... maybe he's the son now).
Jackie Chan's character might as well just be called 'Jackie' cause its pretty much the same character as he always plays... the only difference is that they try to give him some more 'hip' slang dialogue here and there.
If you've seen RH1, you can probably guess who the real bad guy is right away, I know I did... but thats not really the point is it. :-P
One interesting addition to this film is Zhang Jingchu, who plays the ambassador's daughter:
You may recognize her from the Dan Wu/Andy Lau film 'Protege', where she played a heroin junkie. She was definitely hotter in that movie than this one, but her english is suprisingly good in this one... but then I saw an interview with her on the red carpet and I was a bit disappointed. :-P
oh the other cool thing is seeing Li Jing doubling in a few of the 'Dragon Lady' scenes.
(speaking of which, 'Dragon Lady' aside, i think this one was actually less racist than the first two RH movies... or am I just becoming more desensitized to this?) :-P
Anyway, the film is nothing special, it has a lot of laughs, some good action, etc. but as Ebert mentioned in his review, its pretty much as good as a Rush Hour film is ever going to get. 6/10.
