just got home from watching the Simpsons. Mark, Swang and I went down to the so-called ' Cyberport' (which we learned is called ' 數碼港 ' in Chinese) to see The Simpsons.
As a long time fan of the show (it first debuted back when i was in 9th grade), i enjoyed the movie. the animation was a bit strange. the characters looked the same but they used a lot of 3D CGI, a la futurama.
The opening is pretty funny, breaking down the '4th wall' a bit, but then the regular 'show' starts... the plot is basically very similar to a regular episode just stretched out to 90 minutes, lots of random stuff thrown in... lots of subplots that disappear relatively quickly (the pig), but thats par for the course and quite OK.
The coolest part is probably the fact that they tried to throw all the old characters into the movie... many of whom are only in some of the crowd scenes, but its still cool to see people like Chester Lampwick and I even think I saw the Golem... One cool thing to look for: the crashed ambulance at Springfield Gorge!
The fact that its not TV means they can take things a little bit further than the show... its a bit shocking actually, but nothing too graphic.
I'll give it a 7/10.
ps - Be sure to stay for the whole credits... although they are friggin' LONG.
