Para Para Pat returns! And he brought a few friends:

Let me take a step back and explain. After the ninja restaurant, we met up with Mai-chan and went to a nearby Karaoke box place. The room we got was tiny, but it was big on features, including this dramatic black lighting: パラパラした!今回カラオケ部屋中でした。忍者レストラン後僕達はカラオケへ行った。最近よく香港で友達と一緒カラオケへ行くけど、パットとステベン君は日本でカラオケしたことがない。。。
If only the table was about 1/4 of the size, we could have actually moved around. :-P
the key feature was the karaoke system itself:
the room was equipped with three touch screen remotes. you could select the songs through here... this place had japanese, korean, english and chinese... A VERY extensive selection... kicked the PANTS off of the ones in HK...
Oh yes, 63 screens worth of Hamasaki Ayumi! Including all the remixes! :-O
Like in many karaoke places, the videos they showed were in most cases not the real music videos from the aritsts... in this case only the Japanese songs had the real MVs, most of the rest of them were just those generic 90s videos of people walking around in parks with the lyrics superimposed onto the screen.
But in one case we found a REALLY BIZARRELY AWESOME GREEN DAY JAPANESE KARAOKE VIDEO: このグリーン・デイのカラオケビデオがとてもおもしい:
For the song 'Basket Case' ( official MV), in stead of seeing the words super imposed onto the screen, they actually made a video with the lyrics written onto something in the scene... in this case blackboards, textbooks, note cards, all in a japanese high school classroom...
Holy shit where the hell did this come from?!? Pretty Awesome! she flipped through them a la the classic Bob Dylan video Subterrean.
and the fact it was 女子高生 made even more fun. ;-)
We had quite a bit of fun going through the selection of songs... I picked a few Hamasaki, Utada... and Mai-chan and I also tried to duet on an m-flo song.... (with limited success on my part) :-P
Mai-chan also apparently likes to do Disney Songs:
"Walking around on those - what do you call 'em? Oh - feeeeeeeet!"
I was too busy singing to take many pictures, but suffice it to say - we stayed til they kicked us out at closing time...
Since this was our last night in Tokyo... and we had just worked up quite an appetite, they insisted on more Ramen from Ichiran
not pictured - the congenial 6' tall transvestite who sat next to me...
