Uniqlo sells all the coolest shit...

One of the bonuses of my current job is that we get a lot of free clothing,  mostly T-shirts,  on rare occasions something fancier like shoes or jackets.  Because of this, and because I'm totally not a fashion person,  I find that I actually buy very little clothes... (maybe only once every few months will I buy something like a new pair of pants or a sweatshirt, etc. Maybe a concert T-shirt to support the artists....

What I've slowly come to realize is that nowadays almost 99% of the clothes that I actually pay for come from Uniqlo.  I started shopping at Uniqlo back when I lived in Japan,  there was one near my campus and also one at the outlet mall outside of town.    At that time Uniqlo was a natural choice because it was some of the most affordable clothing you can find in Japan.

After a while I noticed that they had some pretty cool t-shirt series as well.  They seem to have expanded this more and more of the last few years.   As a fan of retro video games (also from my time living in Japan),

I really liked the shirts they did last year for that,  and I went the other day to see even more interesting licensed shirts:

Does anyone actually know who Giant Baba is?  (Anyone outside of Japan?)  I didn't even know who he was til I kept seeing his picture on Pachinko ads when I was living there so I finally asked someone...

the t-shirt is actually a good likeness of him later in his career (after he should have retired).

So turns out the Giant Baba shirt is part of some bizarre series called 'Heroes in the World':

Not sure if you can read it, but the line-up includes:  Indiana Jones, Godzilla, Giant Baba, Star Wars, Spider-man and Muhammad Ali....   did I mention it was a bizarre combination?

(two are real people, two are fictional people, and one is a giant science fiction creature). :-P

They also had a few related to video games:

In this case a series devoted to Metal Gear Solid.  I don't know anything about Metal Gear Solid though (I haven't played Metal Gear since the original 1987 NES/Famicon version!) so I don't know how cool these shirts may be. :-P

Also they had anime related ones:

Another anime I never watched.

Actually I did buy one anime shirt...

but of course it was for Galaxy Express 999. :-P
