French distribution company Wild Side Films just bought the rights of Pang Ho-cheung slasher horror “ Dream Home” – which will be released in Hong Kong for Halloween - starring Josie Ho, Eason Chan,
Juno Mak, Anthony Wongand many more.
OK, I’m half surprised since I directly recommanded this movie to the CEO, Manuel Chiche, while I was in Hong Kong last March/April, interviewing the cast and crew on the set, for my Mad Movies preview article (released a few weeks ago, see scans below)
I’m actually collaborating as a freelance with Wild Side Films since 2003. I started to work on their big Shaw Brothers 46-title DVD collection (consulting, writing booklets, directing DVD extra features...) and I also wrote press kits for some of their Asian movies between 2003 and 2007 (“ Come Drink With Me”, “ Old Boy”, “ Samaria”, “ Invisible Waves” etc...).
Since they released some of the best Asian horror movies the last few years (“ Three Extremes”, “ Dorm”, “ A Tale Of Two Sisters”, “ Dumplings”...), it’s kind of logical that they got interested in “ Dream Home”.
Until now, only two Pang Ho-cheung’s movies were released in France (“ Men Suddenly in Black” and “ AV” – distributed by Pathe/Des Films) but only straight to DVD. I hope that “ Dream Home” will be the first movie of this director, to have a French theatrical release.
