TVB Sunday Program and poverty problem in HK

After being in the Children's Mentorship program for

a year and a half, Simon and two twins sisters, TVB

invited me for an interview in their Sunday Report

Program to share my experience and thoughts on

the poverty problem in Hong Kong. 

The gap between rich and poor in Hong Kong is at its

 highest ever, there's been a lot of debates on how

the Ineffective government policies, coporates, and  real

estate is causing the poverty in Hong Kong being worsened

 in the past decade.

Poverty is not an immediate problem that a family can

solve, but hope for improving the situation and the ability

 to compete in the society is what makes a family in poverty

 to survive.  As a children mentor to children in poverty, it's

 a way to help the children to keep up in school work, and

be competitive in school, to get better grades, to get into

higher education, and with education to improve their

2011.02.27 - 貧窮線下的孩子播出日期: 2011.02.27 (日) 香港社區組織協會兒童權利關注會，年初發表的十大貧窮兒童關注事項，包括兒童住在籠屋板間房問題嚴重，兒童沒有十五免費教育，學生資助不足等問題。

社聯曾根據政府統計處的住戶收入數據，把全港住戶入息中位數一半的住戶，定義為貧窮家庭。調查發現有126萬人，屬於貧窮人口，佔全港近五分之一，為近十年最高數字。除了長者，六成貧窮家庭有一人就業。在財政預算案公布的這一周，看看香港的貧窮家庭如何生活。

一家三口，爸爸做廚，月入約一萬元，家住套房，月租三千多元。媽媽沒有工作，也不放心女兒，惟有省吃省用。另一個案的單親媽媽做安老院護理員，月入近七千元，晚上七時半才回家，十九歲的姐姐仍然在學，九歲的小弟弟如何自立？
