48 Hour Film Project HK 2009 - making of "Responsible People" - Saturday

Well the 2nd day of the 48 Hour Film Project - started pretty early, though considering that I hadn't slept all night, it's hard to qualify what exactly early means. At any rate I got down to CWB for 10am where Jeremy Fang picked up me and Elden Cheung (our cinematographer) in his van to rush us to Cinerent to pick up our lighting and sound equipment for the day.

Once we'd got all the stuff, it was over to Yumla to meet the rest of the crew and start filming!

Here's the big man himself, Dan F - proprietor extraordinaire of Yumla - getting his make-up done by our very own superstar face decorator, Ms Hiromi Nakashima

Arne directs the set-up whilst Mike Chan ties up Elvis (aka Henry Lai)

Time for yours truly to get into his very special costume for the day, again with a little help from Mike Chan.

Well Saturday turned out not to be as exciting as Friday night, well at least for me, as I spent 90% of the day pretending to be dead, as below:

Here you can see some of the crew getting to work. These guys: Doon Gibson, Ching and Dicky, were fantastic and supported us for lighting, set-up, props, cabling and sound. Super hard-working and apparently permanently happy, they made a great team.

Brothers Ben and Alex working hard to re-write the script on the spot.

For those of you who have been paying attention, yes they are the same two who played the "thugs" in the first part of our film. In fact we commonly refer to them as the "two highly educated thugs" as a reflection of their intelligent, sophisticated, yet typically rough British characters, as well illustrated by the different pictures from the Friday and Saturday of our shoot.

Hiromi hard at work on me.

The results of Hiromi's hard work:

Mike Chan operating on me with make-shift tools.

All this cutting me to pieces woke me from my deep slumber.

At this point I decided to do what all half-murdered passed out men dressed in tiger suits would  naturally want to do: Take off my suit and start DJ-ing:

Just as we were all ready to give up hope on ever solving what had happened to me, we found this unexpected clue in Dan F's backroom closet, behind the bar of Yumla. This might clear up a couple of questions for you after watching our short film...
