Calling all Filmmakers! Sundance Film Festival: HK Short Film Competition is now open!

We're proud to be a media partner for the Hong Kong edition of the world famous Sundance Film Festival, hosted by our friends at the Metroplex Cinemas.  They asked us to help reach out to the AnD community to make sure everyone knows about their upcoming short film competition, featuring a $30k cash prize as well as a trip to the 2017 Sundance festival in Utah!

Nurture creativity of local filmmakers

March 21 - June 30, 2016
Short films has always been a major element of the Sundance Film Festival.  Over the years, many talented directors have made their mark and kick started their career at the Sundance Film Festival Shorts Program, such as Wes Anderson, Spike Jonze, Todd Haynes and David O. Russell, to name a few. Reaching out to Asia for its first time, with the mission to nurture the creativity of local independent filmmakers, the two co-organizers are proud to present the first edition of Sundance Film Festival : Hong Kong Short Film Competition. Hong Kong permanent residents age 18 or above are welcome to enroll. There are no limitation on genres or themes however all entries must be completed on or after January 1, 2015, with duration between 3 to 15 minutes.  The jury panel includes representatives from the U.S. and Hong Kong : John Cooper, Director of Sundance Film Festival

The competition comes with amazing prizes. Official selected shorts will be screened at 2016 Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong in September. The winner of the Jury Award will receive a HKD$30,000 cash prize as well as an invitation to attend the Sundance Film Festival in Utah in 2017 (roundtrip air ticket and hotel accommodation inclusive). The Jury Award winning short film might also be considered to be screened at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival in Utah, USA.

The 2016 Sundance Film Festival: Hong Kong Short Film Competition is open for submission from March 21 to June 30, 2016.  Please refer to rules and regulations for details.
