Born and raised in Hong Kong. My first taste of film and tv came in my Primary 5 year, when I raised my hand and volunteer to audition for a spot in a children's show. From that point forth, I became a child actor, appearing in numerous educational tv programs as well as commercials for McDonalds (where I have to eat burger after burger - sweet!) and Dairy Farm (where I have to drink bottles of milk repeatedly - yikes!). Also appearing in a few local feature films, usually cast as the childhood character for actors who look nothing like me. After puberty hit me full force, I stopped looking cute and dropped my "acting" career.
Then I went off to New York and went into the film program at New York University. Graduated 2000 and ended up with a short thesis film. I won some awards at the NYU Film Fest, Director’s Guild of America’s Best Asian-American Student Filmmaker award as well as the Vague Award, a $75,000 grant in 2001 to make my first feature. Wely Lice! I made my first feature titled "212" (the area code for Manhattan btw) and premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Fest. After that, I travel with my film to festivals, from tiny screening in a basement of some industrial building by the lake of Michigan to the posh Stockholm Int'l Film Fest in November (why they have it in November in Stockholm is beyond me!)
I'm now resettling in Hong Kong, checking out the scene and trying to get a few film ideas off the ground. Well, we'll see what happens... : )
