Well finished the second day of the Olympics....spent most of the evening glued to the TV....definitely a great Olympic Games....lots of superb athletes, and teams....and one of the koolest looking venues.........the Cube, where all the swimming events were held. And speaking of swimminig..........the French Team laid down a little smack......"they came to smash the American Team"...............in Chinese we say never awake a sleeping tiger........it might just bite you! Well, as you might know the American relay team won an incredible race.......winning in the last feet.........literally by a finger tip! So now Michael Phelps search for 8 gold medals is still on. Hehe........gotta be careful..........at this level anyone can win or lose.......the women's gymnastic was no exception...............while the competition was exciting.......several of the top women in apparatus fell off.................and there were an great deal of not sticking the landings..........and the US Team has had to really step up as they are down to only 4 athletes......the others being injured..........and how about the Chinese Men's Gymnastic Team....decided they will go with just 4 athletes....that's pressure...no room for mistakes. I also watched my first field Hockey Game.......looks like soccer but without kicking....just throwing the ball..................one thing I like is there is a lot more scoring!! I also watched the crew competition..........if you like dragon boat racing......that's for you. Possibly one of the more inspiring stories is the 33 year old German athlete......she is the oldest woman competing in an event dominated ny teenagers..........it's never too late to be an athlete.......so those of you in my Taiji classes take note you can do it too!! There are lots of surprises already as athletes rise to the occasin...........world records breaking everywhere..........it's amazing that you can finish 5th in swimming break the world record and still not win...really high level competition! Also, many first........China won it's first swimming medal in Olympic competition.........in the 400M freestyle a British swimmer Adlington defeated the favored American Hoff...and became the first British swimmer to ever medal in that event........anyway it bodes well this will definitely be an Olympic Game to remember!!
While wandering around during the Nihonmachi Street Fair on Sunday, ran into Amy and Terry.......hi guys was good to see you and your kids!! Ok, gotta run...cya in front of the TV!
