Spent the day with Master Yang.......as Master Zhao had to teach the Russian Delegation....they wanted to work on 64 palms......an important form in Bagua as it teaches a series of applications and responses........once you master you have techniques to deal with any situation. Often my students mistakenly think that this form is not important because it is straight line........but Bagua is about application so this form is of utmost importance.....also while it may seem straight line...if done correctly the form is in fact a straight line inside a circle.....otherwise your opponent will hit you.
Divert, contact, and lock...important words to the proper application of Qinna...joint locking and grasping techniques. Each lock has a counter and a different direction of application.
Each lock drops you in a different way. This particular made you sit on your knees....this did not feel good!! Master Yang of course, greatly enjoying himself!!
With Master Yang Glenn and I worked on 8 methods of locking and counter locking........Qinna techniques...........we got in about 5 hours of practice.........I'm typing with only my right hand as the left really got a workout.....Glenn on the other hand got a Ta Zhang to the leg and has a slightly paralyzed leg.....but it was fun!! We got good enough so we could sit and lock each other. Master Yang demonstrated the flavor of the Qinna and 64 Palm.....he stressed using the whole body and not just going thru the motions.......which students often mistaken for real mastery of the form.
Got a nice surprise for lunch.......the British Olympic Committee member here invited me out to have lunch with her and members of the Beijing Wushu Institute........they wanted to meet with someone from the United States....received an invitation to participate in the 8th Beijing Wushu Invitational Tournament......on July 24-26 from them. Was a great lunch........the best Peking Duck is actually on Shichhai Campus............in the underground garage the restaurant there, has one of the best Chef's in Beijing, he was famous for his Peking Duck before he came to Shichahai.
Ok, going to watch some TV...........Beijing TV nowadays is all variety shows and of course dramas.....Chinese just love dramas..........I've been watching the Beijing version of Dallas......big Company run by women in leadership positions......with guys and gals who are sleeping around............every body hates someone and suspects each other...........times sure have changed..........where are the Wushu Movies!!?? My teas ready,,,,so cya!
