Saturday Morning finally arrived..........and so did lots of people I had not seen in awhile in class..........good to see Percy, Josh, Ben, William, Keith..............that and Glenn brought in guys from his Kenpo School............it was great to see all these people attend............especially since these guys all knew how to fight already.........the seminars would give them some new techniques....and develop some new strategies for them to use. But before application the morning session stressed the practice of Bagua Qigong...........yin yin yang......leading the Yang Qi to your body! The exercise practiced 9 times required half an hour...........after only one cycle I could feel the hands warming..............and the arms becoming very heavy........a sign the qi is flowing..........this is also precursor to use.............no heavy hand , no power!! Then we took a lunch break..........and I headed off to see my acupuncturist.........my ankle by this time was killing me.........so first I got electro-acupuncture......then later had the joints manipulated and my legs stretched out to help relieve the pain!!
I returned a couple of hours later, and everyone was into practicing a two man Qinna Form.....lock and counterlock..............very good form as it teaches all the basic ways to subdue an opponent. I could tell everyone was having fun........and it was good to see many of my lady students trying the techniques on each other..........for a long time there has been a hesitancy to try out techniques on each other...........Master Yang and Myself really feel you cannot do good Bagua if you don't understand it's use.which has been one of the key ideas in my writings for students to grasp...this is the best way to improve your own technique and help you understand the style you practice. After practice was over we had a reception for Master Yang at Hunan Homes in Chinatown. If you never been there you have to try it out...........it is the best resturant in Chinatown.........we always have our receptions at this fine eatery! One of my favorites is the Tofu with shredded pork and Tea Eggs.........really good!!
Next day was Sunday, more of the same applications and then practicing the 64 Linking Palms........which uses Xing-i jing ,Bagua Hands and footwork. If you can master this form you have all the necessary techniques for actual use.......it covers every conceivable situation........keep in mind every technique in this form has 8 variations...........or 64 total techniques!! After, everyone finally left there was still my lesson...........the super Slow Yang Saber!! It goes so slow that you have a hard time remembering what comes next!!
Glenn and I though, had to take Master Yang to the airport that night as his next stop is Portland, Oregon...........we got to the airport early so we could get some Pete's Coffee........and show Master Yang what to do...........before we could take him up to the gate now he has to try and figure it out for himself. We said our good byes...and hoped we would soon get together with him to do more Bagua. Overall, this had been a successful beginning in my hope to popularize and introduce traditional Bagua.................certainly, many of my older students were so enthusiastic that they wanted to work out more in the future!! Always a good starting point!! OK...............finally over, cya!!
