End of the Semester is coming so it's time for the dreaded Belt Testing!! It's interesting to note that students get pushed out of shape by just the mention of Testing.......I can understand a written test might be hard.......but this is something you do daily?? Well, maybe that's the problem........practice is in fact not every day........or you only think about it when you are in class. Master Feng use to tell me that it is useless to only do taiji in the classroom.....you should think about it whenever their is time....even walking down the street.......or washing dishes!! Forms should be reviewed mentally........best time just before you go to bed..................also important I think is to have someone record you so you can see yourself...........perception is not reality......the camera tells you what you truly look like! Progress builds confidence............also understanding the principles of what you are doing.................and following them leads to success.
Cal wushu students will embark on a two day testing schedule..............certainly for many of them it will be tough.........school work always comes first......but one still has to find time to practice........it is a valuable break from studying................mind and body go together......you need to break from mental work and work the body ............gives time for the brain to recover so it can do more thinking................rather than seeing it as separate we need to see it as integrating our lives and a necessary way to live.................for the Chinese Culture to live is to move.....life begins with excercise!
Cal Wushu Students line up for their Belt Promotion Test at end of the semester.
On the other side of the room are the examiners lead by Tami, each student will have to demonstrate their basic techniques, combinations, endurance, and finally forms.
Ok, I'm off to look over the results!! Cya all!!
