Maybe it's because I was subconsciously trying to console myself for not being able to see Weezer in Japan this summer, cause for some reason I haven't written about Weezer at all lately. They shaped my early 20s the way Green Day shaped my teens and the Strokes shaped my mid 20s. You know that pic of me with the glasses and the blond spiky hair on top of my blog? That was a wanna be Rivers Cuomo look. (Okay so he never had blond hair but still...)
The blue album is one of the greatest album of the 90s, the green album was the soundtrack of summer 2001 (especially island in the sun), pinkerton will always be a favorite because that was emo before emo was a fad, and Maladroit is a mixed bag for me because I hated the entire album except one song... but that one song is Dope Nose and it's R-A-D. Rivers even grew out a freaking beard for the video, so you knew it was a special occasion. Oh Japanese Yakuza gang in the video too...Weezer always had a thing for Japan, and vice versa.
Anyway, tonight, I went to jam again; not with "The Interns" this time. This time I was jamming in a side project. And we played Weezer's Dope Nose.
Last session we had no guitarist, this time we had two but no bass. It came out very well, but again this is recorded with iphone so it's gonna sound muffled. But as always--awesome riffs, mediocre beats. The story of my life.
