Rachel flies the Nanhai skies for 'Hong Kong Action Movie Magic'.
Our docu pilot covers every aspect of Chinese martial arts movie making, from fists and feet of fury to bloody bags bursting to lightning swords of death... My partner-in-primetime Rachel Poon gamely changed into period garb and got wired up to become a wu xiastyle swordplay heroine.
This shoot actually saw The Poonster wired for the first time, but Alan Wai and the stunt team were so calm and professional that she felt no fear. (Or, if she did, she never let on!)
Besides the aerial aspect, Rachel had to learn how to wield a gim (straight sword) as though she's a warrior woman to the manner born.
While Rachel cut and flew, I did a 'to camera' piece about the wierd and wonderful weapons used in the classic swordplay actioners.
After performing a sequence where she floated backwards through the air, Alan helped Rachel learn to run along the wall as she duelled one of our stuntmen, Ah Jie.
As we wrapped our HKAMM shoot, I want to thank the team at ACE, who delivered as ever, and especially our FX guru Mike, hair and make-up queen Rayne, cameraman Cameo and, least but not last, the lovely Rachel!
See you on the small screen!
