Reel East's kung fu poster exhibition provides a Thursday night hit!
Our second live Reel East event (the first was our 'Once Upon A Time In China' celebration at Joyce is Not Here) was Savage Grace, an exhibition of Hong Kong kung fu movies held at Michael Leung's a gallery on Mee Lun Street.
Michael's place normally features only high end work from Chinese and Japanese artists, so he was very kind to agree to slum it for the chop socky crowd.
The event was only possible because we have such a great team at B&E / Reel East. My thanks to 'Peerless' Paul Verron, 'Super' Simon Lam and 'Delightful' Debbie Chan.
As ever, I was certain no-one would come, and was vaguely surprised when we had a full house.
Paul and I were proud to have our kung fu master, the great Mak Sifu, in the house.
I gave a short talk on the relative merits of the different posters, and it seemed to be well received.
It was great to see how many people are interested in Hong Kong film culture, and supportive of Reel East. If you want to buy anything you saw on the day, or are interested in Asian action movie memorabilia, please check out www.reeleast.com.
My mission over, I hung out with my sin Ryan and some fiends after the show.
