Sammi Kane Kraft 1992-2012 RIP

I had the pleasure of working with Sammi Kane Kraft for 3 months in 2005 on the film, "The Bad News Bears".  Sammi played Amanda Whurlitzer and was cast by director Richard Linklatter because she really could pitch a 75 MPR fastball.  Sammi was always polite, introspective and soft-spoken.  And she really could play ball! I would sit with the kids at lunch each day and we would all be excited for dessert!  I remember them all being excited over fried green tomatoes we had one day as no one knew what they were.  We shot The Bad News Bears at baseball diamond in Los Angeles and each day was so much fun because of the kids.  It was a little like summer camp, except we were shooting in winter.  My character, China, was always dressed in small outfits and I spent most of the time freezing!  But we all had a super time and I will always remember these months with the children fondly.Sammi passed away this Tuesday in a car accident in Los Angeles at the age of 20.  RIP.
