The 48 Hour Film Project

I just stumbled upon something really cool.

There is this little thing going on at the end of July in Chicago called the 48 Hour Film Project.   You get together with a team and you have 48 hours over the course of a weekend to write, shoot, edit, and score a short film.  I am trying out for one of the Chicago teams.   This is a world wide thing too with things happening all over the world.  There are some cool prizes such as a HD Panasonic camera, script-writing software, and other goodies including heavily discounted music to use in your film.   Also your film may show at various festivals around the world including a little one called CANNES!   They also screen the local movies for one night at a theater.  Last year they used to historic Portage theater in Chicago.  You'll see this theater soon enough cause the climax of Public Enemies was shot there and I spent about 17 hours of a 20 hour day filming with Johnny Depp there.

Anyway. I think it is a cool little thing.  If it all goes well, I may try to organize one in HK next year.  If any AnDers are interested, let me know and we'll have a whole year to coordinate it.  I have tons of stories from my Homless in Hong Kong book I could adapt.  Or I do have a cool idea for a short story they might work well as a short film.  If anyone wants the details on that, I'll post those in the artist forum.
