9/11 10 Years after.

I can't believe it's been 10 years to this day, a tragedy took place that impacted the entire world.  Thousands of innocent people lost their lives in the twin towers, not to mention the many many firefighters and members of law enforcement who lost their lives trying to save others from the burning building, a selfish act of courage that will never be forgotten.  We must also remember those brave passengers on Flight 93 who gave up their own lives to save so many others from dying .  This event created a disturbing hatred towards others, and made the US and Canada one of the most paranoid nations in the world.   Over the years levels of security have been increased to the point that I feel that we have lost much of our sense of freedom when travelling within North America.  In the end no matter how tragic it was we as human beings gained strength from it.I was a Karate Instructor at that time and many of my students, as young as six, wanted to discuss the matter and kept asking me why it happened.  I could find now way to explain to these children, our future, why this happened.   But I told them that they had the power within themselves to make a difference in the world, to respect and love others and to encourage love not hate.  As the years passed we found and killed Osama Bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.  But their deaths have not lead to more peace, nor has it lead to their followers to change the way they think.  Keeping them alive would have made things any better, it's a delicate situation for which there is no simple answer.  Is it better to cut off the head of the beast, a beast that can still function without the head?  Or is it better to influence the beast to behave in a different matter, easier said than done.  As I said there is no simple answer. There are many individuals and groups trying to make the world a better place so that inhumane tragedies like this one become a thing of the past, we wish for a time when these incidents become nothing more an event in a history book.  I do my best as a human being to treat others as I wish to be treated, with love and respect.  I have no issues with religion or cultural beliefs so long as it does not affect the freedom or health of another human being.  Every human being deserves to be treated with love and respect, I myself forget this sometimes, even carry a joke too far.  Maybe with a little more love and respect we can change the world.  Maybe I need to do more myself, although I do find it hard to remember this when I have been wronged in some way. Please take a moment to reflect on that day, September 11th 2001.  May those who lost their lives on that day and in the wars that followed never be forgotten.  I always remember the lyrics to this song by "White Lion".  I remembered it was played on the radio following an announcement that the war in The Persian Gulf had begun.    Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHZ79InLGRY
