ROGER MOORE BOOK SIGNING @ DYMOCKS, IFC

I totally stumbled on this event by accident.  I was actually looking for a bank machine because I wanted to buy something from a Hong Kong MTR station store, and came up to IFC to look for one.  Once up the escalator, my eye caught the image of Roger Moore's face and I noticed that he had a new autobiography, My Word Is My Bond.  THEN I noticed that he was actually going to BE HERE to sign the book and I immediately knew that I was going to need to take out more money.

To many people, Sean Connery was the ideal James Bond.  Not me.  Roger Moore was the James Bond that I grew up with.  A View To A Kill, Man With The Golden Gun, Octopussy, freakin' MOON RAKER!!!

So yeah, I figured this was probably the only time I would get to meet him and hastely bought my copy of the book, followed by a ticket with a "#84" written with a black pen on the corner.

There also came a joyful surprise when I found out my good friend Spencer Douglass was ALSO attending the signing.  He was a HUGE Moore fan and was super syked to go.

We even came up with a cool idea of how to meet him.  This was Roger Moore, after all.  SIR Roger Moore, in fact.  We planned on coming in slick suits and then personally serving Roger Moore a martini SHAKEN NOT STIRRED.  How brilliant is that?  A Martini on a Saturday afternoon with ROGER MOORE.

BUT after doing some research online, we had no luck in finding his favourite Martini, and worse, apparently he didn't even drink a lot anymore.  Hmmm, bummer.

Plan B, then.  Go as we are =)

The signing table being set up.

The queue wasn't too terrible at the beginning.

Slowly but surely, though, people started forming thickly around the entrance.

Two debonair debutantes waiting to meet the man.

At last, the moment arrived!

By now the crowd had swelled and formed a human wall of cameras.

Spen was up first and he said that Roger Moore had a mighty grip for an 80 year old!

Next up was me, but the damn photo girl took the picture too soon!

One last look at the legend.

Well, I have to say that the whole event was over a lot quicker than I expected.  It was like this whole build up and then not even getting a minute to say anything, as the Dymocks staff pushed everyone along in an orderly fashion, making sure that he would be able to sign every book in an hour's time.

At least it was still a fun time and I can't wait to see who else drops by Hong Kong unexpectedly.
