I swear this is the last time I'll spam my own blog about the album! Rendition been out for a couple weeks now and reaction amongst underground press and music forums has been overwhelming ... much, much better than expected.

Just wanted to fire up a few photos:

Big box. Little box. Carboard fish. Design based on military ration packs (M.R.E.'s) using similar card stock. Details Daniel. If only the damn printer had followed my template exactly then I wouldn't have to tape them shut before mailing them out. Hey-ho, next time.

Shann's artwork again, plus some strange looking device not compatible with your iPod. Apparently it has music on it? Didn't bother to check.

Join the ranks. These things came back looking dope. Already been sent photos showing them stitched onto peoples record bags / jeans / caps.

Shemagh. Keffiyeh. Tactical dust / sun scarf. Probably not a good idea to wear this thing through US Immigration. Which was kind of my point. Clothing does not maketh the man ... a threat. Do not ever trade freedom for security. That's the album in a nutshell. Neatly summed up by a piece of cloth.

And stickers. Why is it so hard to get good quality vinyl stickers made in Hong Kong? The plastic capital of the universe and I can't get heavyweight clear sticky vinyl. These came pretty close to what I wanted. Meh. Next time. Anyway: Gifts go out to for people mailing me back photos of where they've put these things. Google Map them if you have time. Gifts in the form of more stickers! A never ending cycle.

Stephen: Too much thought! Being honest, even though CDs are a dead format, half the enjoyment of doing music is all the extra work that goes into the packaging and videos etc. Zipping a JPG up with some MP3s doesn't even come close :) Etchy: Not heard about that story! But it doesn't surprise me, sadly.

Boon - thanks bro! Etchy: Just Googled what you were talking about. Corporate success relies on a lot publicity. Running then dropping the ad must have been intentional, there's no other explanation. Whether the actor was making a statement or not is [rightly] up to her, but from a corporate point of view you can never take sides - not when everyone is a potential customer! That whole scenario is a bit different to the issue of racial profiling, which I disagree strongly against.

Ha! Leave terrorists out of this :) Terrorist are a just a reaction to a situation getting out of control. People who have lost any hope of resolving their situation any other way. The message with the album is to keep an eye on your situation before it's gets too far out of your control.

DVD was purely timing and cost. I only had 2 video completed by the time I needed to submit the masters for replication, and I felt paying the extra cost simply to include those 2 video wasn't justified. The thought went across my mind a lot! Maybe in 10 years I'll do a "Best Of" compilation with loads of video on it :)

Thankfully never had MRE's! But seen them often enough, when I was a kid (this is over 18 years ago) we used to live near Bovington tank proving grounds in the South of England and some family friends worked there. I still have a jar of Saudi / Iraqi desert sand which was given to me ... cleaned out of a Challenger tank engine air filter!
