I never saw Finishing the Game when it was in theaters. I really wanted to, really I did! When it left theaters, I felt incredibly guilty for not having supported the film, so when it came out on DVD, I grabbed a copy.
Loved this film! Great cast, good humor. Now I'm pissed I didn't see it in theaters because I think it would have been a really fun film to see in room packed with other people. Better late than never, huh?
It was also funny to see an old buddy of mine, Elan, in the film! Which leads me to the next film: Ping Pong Playa.
After watching Finishing the Game, I realized that I hadn't seen PPP and I wasn't sure how much longer it'd be showing in theaters here in SF. If we want to see more independent and Asian American films in theaters, we have to get our butts in the seats, right?
PPP stars another old friend, Jimmy Tsai. Elan also has a couple cameos. Watching PPP came at the perfect time because several classmates and I have been taking up ping pong during our breaks on campus. Our school doesn't have many places to hang out, but we do have a "break room" with two very beat up ping pong tables. Though we totally suck, PPP has inspired me to put in a little more practice to get my game up.
If you haven't seen Finishing the Game, go out and rent it! If you haven't seen Ping Pong Playa, catch it in theaters before it's gone!
Oh, and go show Elan and Jimmy some love.
(Elan and Jimmy are old wushu friends from Berkeley. Jia you, boys!)
