Picking up some conversational Cantonese?

so, with my upcoming trip to HK, i decided i should try learning a bit of conversational Cantonese.

DIGG led me to this, which is almost completely useless.

so I figured I'd check iTunes for some free podcasts.  i've tried out two of them, but neither are structured very well.

anybody have any suggestions for learning some basic Cantonese?

I'm using Pimsleur Conversational Cantonese One (Pimsleur's only Cantonese course). It is pricey ($150 US was cheapest I found, on Amazon Market Place), but I think it is probably the best. 15 hours, 30 lessons, lots of repetition, so you speak 15 or more of those 30 minutes in each lesson. I'm only to lesson 11, but I have really developed my ear. I now hear Cantonese with greater discrimination. Even when I can't understand what the words mean, I can still say them correctly. I'm also recognizing words and phrases in movies and pop songs. I think I'm ready for one of those breakthroughs where the language actually begins to sound familiar and your mouth can make the sounds with greater and greater accuracy. I tried the Teach Yourself Cantonese One, but that was too advanced. I'll be ready for it, though, after the Pimsleur course. I hope you've got a few months for study. Unless you already know Mandarin, Cantonese won't be like anything you have already studied language-wise.

Pimsleur is great. For podcasts I would recommend the "naked cantonese" series from RTHK with Cecilia Gamst-Berg. They're entertaining and you learn useful phrases like "beer, please" and what to say in a brothel.

I can get you the pimsleur hook-up if you want it, btw. I think I have every language they've produced except for 1 or 2 of the newer ones.
