The Mad Detective

Hello Everyone,

I had the pleasure of watching "The Mad Detective" last night on DVD. I am a HUGE fan of Johnny To, and if you are too, this one will NOT disappoint. I don't want to give anything away, but one of the things I like the most about this film (really, all of his films) is that he manages to take a simple premise, and layer it with complex characters. I loved in this film the idea that the detective has the "power" to see peoples "inner personalities" and as you watch the film you are guessing whether he is really seeing these things or just a nut!!  But To manages to examine (by showing these inner personalities interacting within one character) how we all have these complex sides that help us make the decisions we make... Both good and bad... We all have a bit of a glutton, the brains that keep us out of trouble, the side that acts really rash, or the scared little boy.

If you have not seen this film, I highly recommend it!
