Hey boys and girls,
So I'm off to Fukuoka tomorrow to listen to what my heart has to say. Why Fukuoka you may ask? It is quite simple. I wanted to get the lost in translation vibe but I've already been to Tokyo. When I heard about the ramen, Fukuoka became the 2nd choice lol
But as I mentioned just now, i'm going to shut myself out, people watch etc in the hopes of getting inspired for the new tunes. Songwriting is really tricky, as quoted once by JM. It is like a crossword puzzle, but you have no idea on how the design looks like, nor do you know the answers to the puzzle! You only have the story and the characters, and then you need to work on the marriage between the lyrics and the melody etc
But it is the need to get it off my chest that is driving me to do this and I know I'll have accomplish a lot by the end of this trip.
Another challenge in the upcoming writing exercise is the balance between fiction vs non-fiction. The traditional thinking has always been "write from the heart" but I bet you most writers out there probably include a large portion of fiction into their songwriting mix. Let's face it. Reality is that...reality. (we can debate on the subject of "What is reality without the drama?" on a later post)
So ok there you go, thought I get in touch with the AnD community: DA fellowship of artist.
See you in a week's time and let's unite!!!
