...a working day.
So i was supposed to shoot some scenes for 'Xioa Niang Re' (that drama set in the 50's) yesterday, 11Aug. In fact i had the date blocked about 2 weeks ago.
Then, early last week, there was this casting call for a motorcycle thief for 'CrimeWatch' - re-enacting recent, real crimes. At first the casting girl said i was too old as the actual perpetrator was a national serviceman - late teens to early 20's. They needed to keep it real. i immediately took a shot of myself and emailed it over:
So now she's saying it might actually work, BUT it's up to the producer. Meanwhile, was i good to shoot on 11Aug? Well not really...but i could check, knowing how production schedules can change like the weather.
And true enough, my 50's shoot on 11Aug was resheduled (they were just about to inform me), leaving me free to play the bike thief should i be selected.
Perfect...except i didn't get the role. You don't suppose it'd really be pushing it a tad, getting a 34 yr-old to play a 20 yr-old? :P Anyways, no harm done, though i've always wanted to do a bike -riding shoot...and especially since all the bikes that really got stolen were big cc racing bikes.
Later that day (last friday), i got a call from this production house offering me a role as a 'muscle man' in a kids drama. Naturally, i was flattered...but com'on, me?
so i go: "Muscle man? You sure you got the right fish? "
and she goes: "...yes..."
and i go: "Well, ok..if you insist. So when' s the shoot?"
and she goes: "...11Aug...1 long scene...simple lines....12 hr shoot ....come dressed for the gym....blah blah blah...."
and i go: "So you need more guys in the background? i could send you my brother's pictures."
and she goes: "...sure, thanx....send them now...."
so there you go:
Just side-track alittle here:
Frank (#6) beat this monster of a man (#3) and 8 other beefcakes in 2006. :)
Now back to the story...
...within the hour, she calls me back. Apparently, just as i had expected, she now finds me not-so-suited for the muscleman role. They're casting Frank instead. :)
To which i reply : "That's great....so now, i'll be in the background?"
and she goes: "Actually no, we're casting you in another role for a later episode..."
and i go somewhat incredulously: "Really? Wat's it about?"
and she goes: "...half the episode...opposite the lead...scrīpt's not out yet but i'll email you the beats...."
and i go: "But when's the shoot. i'm going to HK for 5 days til 29th Aug."
and she goes: "...1st week of september...blah blah blah"
And that's that.
Monday, 11 Aug. A public holiday in-lieu of last saturday's National Day. Not meant to be a working day.
I\'m just a working actor doing what I love and loving what I do. ............................ Q: Will my time ever come? A: Yes...I have to believe it w
