Experiencing a bigtime dry spell...

...and i ain't talking about the weather :(

Starting to get a tad worried here...

...couldn't clinch a single role at auditions...tried out for 3 TVCs, nothing...nobody's calling.

Am i losing my groove?

Or is it the rising oil prices? :P

Well, at least i still have my students.  Oh...did i forget to mention that, apart from acting, i'm a private tutor as well?

Fact is, i was a tutor before the acting bug bit.

After leaving the airforce, quiting my engineer job 9 months hence, and a second rejection on my teaching applicaton, i started tutoring mathematics...yeah, it's a long story.

At its peak i had 9 students though by then, i've started putting my occupation down as 'ACTOR/TUTOR' on casting forms...instead of "TUTOR/ACTOR". ;)

In private tutuoring, students come and go but with acting taking precedence, i've long stopped actively seeking new students. Currently, i have 3 students. 2 will be taking their 'O' level exams later this year, afterwhich i'd lose them to higher education. Then there's Jon:

He's in Secondary1. i've been tutoring him since P3.

i was visiting my grandma one fine day some 4and a half years ago and this lady comes knocking, conducting one door-to-door survey or another. At the end of the 15-min survey, she asked for my particulars; name, contact, occupation etc. 2 weeks later, that same lady called me about tutoring her son...and that's how i started with Jon.  :)

So anyways...i'm just really glad there's still a place to go and something to do, even for a guy who's low on the dough...

i'm currently on chapter 16, page 421.

This past 4 weeks i've also read "Men Of Bronze" by the same author Scott Oden.  Then there was "The Afghan Campaign" and " The Virtues of War", both by author Steven Pressfield who wrote "Gates of Fire"...think "hot gates" in "300". That's the next book i'm after...unless i get to experience some serious 'weather' changes  ;)

hang in there man... the last acting stint i did was on a short film in singapore and am really starting to feel it now. I"m dying to do some work for the camera. The modelling has been great but it's not the same. Take the time to learn a new skill that you think may be useful in booking future jobs, language, stagefighting, what ever. Hang in there, we all go through this atleast once a year. The important thing is to stay positive no matter what.
