Take a gander at the very first pass at the layouts for the first 9 pages of the Eagleburger book. See, what happened was this. Jef, Rudy, and I all talked about the story at first. Then we outlined it all with super powered bullet points. We knew what we had to hit for each issue. Then, while Rudy and Jef got busy writing it with their own special crazy sauces, I tried my hand at laying it out. I did this to get a handle on the pacing, as well as give those two goons a sort of foundation for them to use as a rhythm (if they wanted, which as it turns out, they didn’t). I also wanted to cut up pictures of Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks and Max Von Sydow.
The actual layouts are now much different since Jef wrote the first scrīpt, but it’s fun to look back on this to see how it developed. I’ll be posting the REAL layouts at a later time. As long as the Masons don’t try to stop me.
